SEO Best Practices for Hotels, Restaurants, Salons and Clinics

22 April 2024 · by Find2Digital

Search engine optimisation can feel endless, but most of the results for a local booking business come from doing a few things properly and keeping them up to date. Use this as a checklist.

Structure your website around what people search for

  • Give each main service its own page: room types, treatments, menus, consultations.
  • Use one clear heading per page that says what the page is about.
  • Write a unique title and description for every page. Repeated titles make pages compete with each other.

Make your location and details unmistakable

  • Show your full address, phone number and opening hours on the site, ideally in the footer or contact page.
  • Keep these details identical on your Google Business Profile and in every directory.
  • Add structured data so search engines can read your business type, address and hours reliably.

Write content that only you could write

Describe your real spaces, team, treatments and dishes. Answer the questions your staff hear every day: parking, accessibility, cancellation rules, what to bring. Never copy text from other websites. Copied content is unlikely to rank and can weaken how search engines judge the whole site.

Make it fast and easy on a phone

  • Compress images and avoid heavy video backgrounds on key pages.
  • Keep the booking button visible without scrolling.
  • Test your site on an ordinary phone on mobile data, not just on office Wi-Fi.

Let people book online

A booking system on your own website turns search visits into reservations without a phone call. It also gives search engines a clear signal that your business is active and open.

Build a steady flow of reviews

Ask for reviews after good visits, make it easy with a direct link, and reply to every review politely. Specific, recent reviews help both rankings and conversions.

Keep the technical basics clean

  • One address per page, with no duplicate versions, and redirects only where a page has genuinely moved.
  • No broken internal links.
  • On multilingual sites, a real translation for each language, each at its own address and linked with hreflang tags.

Review every few months

Check Google Search Console for errors and for searches where you are close to the first page. Update prices, photos and opening hours whenever they change. Small, regular updates keep a site healthy. To understand what to look at, read SEO metrics for booking businesses.
